Sydney Produce Market
Overview

Sydney Produce Market is the largest fresh fruit and vegetable wholesale market in Australia and one of the largest in the world. It caters primarily to professional buyers from supermarkets, restaurants and greengrocers.

People from all over NSW and the ACT — together constituting almost one-third of Australia's population — consume the fresh produce sold through the market each day.

As Australia's leading produce market, it has become the price barometer for fruit and vegetables in Australia, and continues to set the standard for operational excellence including cool chain systems, distribution networks and technical innovations.

Key Facts

Home to over 123 fresh produce wholesalers. Located in Buildings A, B, C and E at Sydney Markets, off Parramatta Road, Flemington — opposite Sydney Olympic Park.

Sydney Produce Market provides opportunities for suppliers, wholesalers and buyers to build strong business relationships in a unique environment of healthy and open competition.

Sydney Flower Market
Overview

Sydney Flower Market is Australia's largest flower market for fresh cut flowers. Traders primarily supply florists in the Sydney area, regional NSW and the ACT, but the market is also open to the general public.

The Sydney Flower Market has an annual turnover in excess of $150 million and accounts for approximately 75% of the wholesale cut flower trade in NSW. Potted plants and florist supplies are also sold.

The Sydney Flower Market has been part of Sydney's market tradition since the First Fleet, evolving from sites at The Rocks and the Queen Victoria Building to its current home at Flemington.

Key Facts

Approximately 170 traders hold stands at the Sydney Flower Market. NSW's diverse climate means a wide variety of flowers can be locally grown — major growing areas are on the Central Coast, around Horsley Park and Leppington, and at Dural and Glenorie — all within 2–3 hours travel.

All traders must be flower growers and are shareholders of Sydney Markets Limited. Due to the central market model, Sydney enjoys some of the lowest prices for fresh flowers in the developed world.

Sydney Growers Market
Overview

Sydney's premier farmers market, the Sydney Growers Market provides a daily outlet for growers to sell their own fruit, vegetables and herbs grown and harvested on farms within the Sydney basin.

Originally known as the Number 6 Growers Market at Haymarket in 1936, it moved to Building D at Sydney Markets in 1975. It has since become the premier growers market in NSW, playing a vital role in the Australian central market system.

The mix of produce has evolved to reflect Australia's cultural diversity, with European, Asian and Middle-Eastern growers all contributing an array of varieties.

Key Facts

394 growers within the Sydney basin travel to Sydney Markets daily to market their produce. It is a one-stop shop for buyers to compare prices and products and trade in an open, competitive market.

Stand categories are available Monday to Friday, Monday/Wednesday/Friday, and Tuesday/Thursday. Stands may be bought from an existing grower or a vacant stand from Sydney Markets Limited.
